Leblanc Martineau St-Hilaire

A presence within Desjardins Securities since 1994, Leblanc Martineau St-Hilaire is a leading multidisciplinary team of investment advisors.

Our wealth management approach relies on personalized analysis of our clients’ needs to provide made-to-measure solutions. We manage clients’ investments, help them plan their retirement, help protect their assets and maximize their wealth.

Mission

For the last 20 years, we have aimed for excellence in the quality of the financial advice and service provided to our clients, with integrity, discipline and transparency in the forefront.

Investment Philosophy

Financial markets have evolved over the last decade. Markets are more volatile, more uncertain and more complex than in the past. Investing has become an active and dynamic process in which some traditional forms of investment simply no longer work.

Since 2008, to deal with this new reality, we have included discretionary management in our service offer. Our portfolio management focuses more on risk management than on seeking returns that beat the indices. A key study conducted by Gary Brinson, Randolph Hood and Gilbert Beebower shows clearly that 93.6% of variations in yield are due to asset allocation. In short, decisions on allocation have more influence on a portfolio’s overall yield and variability than decisions on stock selection, based on market forecasts.

We have developed expertise that has proven its worth in the active management of an array of exchange traded funds (ETFs). With their low costs and with their size and scope, ETFs are key instruments for attaining diversification and desired exposure to a variety of asset categories: large- and small-cap shares, stocks on international, emerging and developed markets, fixed-income securities and major categories such as alternative investments and real estate. In short, ETFs are the ideal instrument for implementing our investment strategies, whether they involve short- or long-term tactics focusing on specific sectors or investments, or more comprehensive approaches related to asset categories.

What sets us apart

Your financial affairs and investments have become complex. They require skilled professional attention as well as extensive planning. And in every aspect of your life, you have come to expect higher levels of service and personal attention.

Since 1994, many clients have opted for our team’s services to simplify their lives and fulfil their financial goals. We have put together a wealth management and discretionary management approach. We focus our attention on your needs in retirement planning and portfolio management services. We can also work with your tax advisor and legal advisor to make suggestions on potential tax optimization strategies. We also recommend investment portfolios based on your personal goals, your risk tolerance and your investment horizon.

In addition, to be a leader in our profession and to maintain the high level of quality in the service and care provided to our clients, we are equipped with one of the top customer relations management software programs. This tool helps create a collaborative real-time working environment for our team, providing all information flows regarding our clients. It is a tool that helps us stand out by providing greater accuracy and responsiveness in meeting requests from our growing clientele.

We are also aware that an advisor’s quality is measured both by technical skills and by appropriate behaviour that meets top standards of conduct. In the current context of consumer mistrust, we are convinced that the advisors with the best business practices will be the most highly appreciated by clients. In short, the client-advisor relationship relies above all on trust. This is built on the advisor’s credibility and on the quality of attention provided. Listening to clients is how we can best understand their needs. Our credibility is linked to our skills and our know-how.

Values

  • Discipline and integrity
  • Closeness to clients
  • Professionalism and skill
  • Transparency

We also provide discretionary management that lets you delegate responsibility for investment decisions. Your portfolio is built on the basis of your growth and income needs and your risk tolerance, with the tax aspect taken into account. Since your approval is not required for each trade, we are able to bring you the benefit of investment opportunities quickly and efficiently. We work in accordance with the particular guidelines established beforehand in your investment policy, and we are subject to our industry’s highest regulatory standards. With our monthly written communications, our telephone follow-ups and our periodic meetings, we keep you fully informed of market trends and of your portfolio’s performance.
